UNDP, Irish Aid boost HRC-SL with motorbikes
The Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRC-SL) has on Friday July 17, 2020 received six (6) XL motorbikes from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Irish Aid to help strengthened the outreach capacity of the regional offices.
The commission’s Executive Secretary, Joseph B. Kamara, said the HRCSL's relationship with the UNDP and Irish Aid has been phenomenal, while describing the support as laudable and timely.
UNDP Team Lead- Governance Cluster, Kadie Jumu-Peters, said the UNDP and Irish Aid were pleased to support the commission on capacity strengthening that will help boost their activities and help them reach out to marginalize people in hard to reach communities.
Receiving the bikes, HRCSL Chairperson, Patricia Narsu Ndanema, thanked the two institutions for their timely support to the commission.
She recalled that when they assume office a year ago, an assessment was carried out on the Commission's assets, where they realized the abysmal nature of mobility. She continued that their strategic engagements with various partners for support has started yielded dividend with the UNDP and Irish Aid responding.
She assured of the proper use of the bikes in reaching out to communities for people to access the commission.
